Yield was estimated at 1,550 pounds per acre, 50.0 pounds from October forecast and down 50.0 pounds from the 2019 crop. Harvested acreage was estimated at 2,800 acres, down 1,200 acres from last year’s crop. U.S. production is estimated at 84.7 million pounds, down 9% from last year. Burley growers harvested 43,310 acres, down 11% from 2019. Yields were estimated at 1,956 pounds per acre, up 46 pounds from last year.
Production of Tennessee dark fire-cured tobacco is estimated at 16.5 million pounds, down 6% from the previous year. Dark air-cured tobacco production is estimated at 8.51 million pounds, up 32% from last year.
